Scott Edmiston has been training and directing through the Northeast for longer than 30 years. Since moving to Boston in 1997, he's directed significantly more than 60 productions at theatre and opera companies across brand new The united kingdomt including SpeakEasy Stage business, Lyric Stage business, United states Repertory Theatre, Underground Railway Theatre, New Repertory Theatre, Opera Boston, New Repertory Theatre, Nora Theatre, Gloucester Stage, in addition to Tony Award-winning Huntington Theatre Company in which he was an Artistic connect and manufacturing dramaturg for longer than 30 productions. In 2011, Scott obtained the Elliot Norton Award for Sustained quality for his theatrical body of work and contributions on cultural life of Boston.
His acclaimed revival of My Fair Lady at Lyric Stage was named among the best productions of 2015 by The Wall Street Journal, and received Scott the Elliot Norton Award, the IRNE Award, plus the Arts Impulse Award. Their way of this very first U.S. revival regarding the opera Nixon in Asia had been hailed as “deeply pressing” by This new York instances; and his production Five by Tenn, an authentic compilation of Tennessee Williams performs, was recognized with five Elliot Norton Awards including Outstanding Director. He also received Elliot Norton Awards for their direction of Casa Valentina, the real history Boys, The Light when you look at the Piazza, Molly Sweeney, and Cat on a Hot Tin Roof. Eight of his productions have been recognized with awards as Outstanding Production or Musical of the year. Scott started his training career at the University of Michigan in 1983. For many years he served from the professors at Boston University’s class of Theatre Arts and led their M.F.A. directing system. He has got taught directing at Brown University/Trinity Rep and dramatic literature at Brandeis University where he was the inaugural Director of the workplace for the Arts for 11 many years.
